Short description: The goal is to modernize a transformer station within a housing district in Vienna.

Project description:

The objective is to modernise a substation in a residential area of Vienna. The specific components to be modernised are: the transformer, the 10kV medium voltage and 400V low voltage switchgear. In addition, we will add a primary and secondary control unit, which will transmit various data via fibre optic cables and Lorawan. Furtermore, the new medium voltage switch gear will be remote controlled to improve the ASIDI (average system interruption index) if the power grid is at fault. Moreover, the current energy movement and shift towards decentralised distributed generation units allows new power/current flows within the power grid. Thus leads to four-quadrant metering units which are implemented in both switch gears. Therefore, the new transformer station is a keyfactor in the new smart grid.
